Steep mountains .... Ferry Rides ..... Smoking Brakes .... and BARK!!

Tomo started out in Calgary, Alberta and was told to go to Nakusp, British Columbia to pick up a load of BARK!  So off he went through the beautiful mountains of Banff National Park and then on to Glacier National Park (in British Columbia, not MONTANA!!)

From Revelstoke, British Columbia, Tomo headed south along the Upper Arrowhead Lake.  He was traveling on Highway 23 and this highway has a very interesting point at Shelter Bay to Galena Bay, the Highway turns into a Ferry ride.  If you do a close up on the map at this point you will see that there is a dotted line across the lake at this point.  The following photos are of the ferry crossing.

After ferry crossing, Tomo headed up to Nakusp, British Columbia where he picked up a loose load of BARK!!   The total weight with only BARK was 77,000 lbs. (34,927 kg)

During this adventure Tomo experienced a few very steep mountain passes and the grade minus proper functioning Jacob compression brakes maded for some smokey excitement and even a flame or two.
(NOT SOMETHING RECOMMENDED BY MOST SANE PEOPLE)

Well, Trucker Tomo did his best to keep it under control, chose to shut down for the night, to allow the brakes to COOL OFF!! Then to proceed with extreme caution back to the yard at Anaconda!!  Needless to say...... his designated truck .... is in the shop for some (HOPEFULLY) comprehensive repairs .... but we are not holding our breath!  At present he is driving this one.

A quote from Tomo:'Really nice one over all!'
